New York is a city that fascinates and amazes you, no matter how many times you visit her. There is always a new facet to look at, a new attraction which you missed the last time or a new play which has become the latest hit.
She has something for everyone. It does sound like a travel cliché, but it is so true. If you are an art aficionado, the Metropolitan Museum, the MOMA and the Guggenheim will be your first stops. But if plays and concerts and music are your scene, then the legendary street of Broadway will be your favourite haunt. Just walking down this amazing street invokes memories of great actors and actresses and of stupendous shows at the Radio City Music Hall.
If you are a first time visitor to New York, then do join one of the hop-on, hop-off bus tours. New York really is too large for you to traverse it on your own. Let them show you the highlights of this city and on the next day choose your points of interest and visit them individually. Or you could even take a Circle Line Ferry Tour of the Hudson and get a riverside view of the borough of Manhattan.
If you are looking for the serenity of parks, then the massive Central Park beckons you and enthrals you. If shopping is your main interest, then the massive Macy’s at Herald Square is your port. Watch out for your wallet here, you may end up spending too much money! But if you would just like to window shop, then take a walk down Fifth Avenue, and catch a glimpse of the world’s best known stores and their rarefied clientele.
New York is also home to the best restaurants and street food in America. Good food is available for all budgets and on every street. You can savour food from all over the world here, and still remain within your budget.
Do try to decide upon an itinerary before you reach New York, because there is so much to see and do, that you will waste precious time trying to make a choice!
Enjoy the Big Apple – she will beguile you.

Holidays should always be occasions for rest and relaxation. Book your holiday car hire Cyprus in advance and avoid the hassle. Holidays which require tremendous amount of activity and rushing from one place to another, are not everyone’s cup of tea. Hire a car and you have the freedom to explore at your own leisurely fashion.
If you are among those who prefer these types of holidays, then North Cyprus is one of the best holiday destinations for you. Tranquillity and serenity are part and parcel of every visit here and you can take back memories of a beautiful place and great food.
There is much to see in North Cyprus. The port of Kyrenia is among the most beautiful seaside towns on the Mediterranean coast. The ancient Byzantine Castle, which has now been converted into a museum, is an interesting place to visit, but if you would rather just walk around leisurely, then the harbour offers you a vision of shimmering lights and serene walks.

Your sightseeing round can also include the Bellapais Monastery and Abbey. At the Abbey, the view of the island and the Mediterranean is breathtaking. Sunshine, water sports, unspoilt beaches, bargain hotels and accommodation – is anything else needed to make it a perfect holiday?
North Cyprus is one of the most unblemished destinations in the world. An added advantage is that it is easily accessible from all over Europe and United Kingdom, and there are many boarding and lodging options ranging from the luxurious to the bargain hotels and resorts.
Time seems to have come to a stop in North Cyprus, there are very few people here and you can happily drive around without getting stuck in traffic snarls and teeming multitudes. Step back into an era where the world was laid-back and peaceful, and where holidays were meant for relaxation and unwinding.

There are very few places like Rome in this world. It is bustling with people, it is noisy and there is traffic everywhere. Yet it manages to find some kind of system in this chaos and it also houses the holiest of holy places for the Roman Catholics. She is bubbling over with conversation and with a multitude of people from all walks of life. Nuns and priests walk nonchalantly pass smart young men ogling all the women all around.

There is so much to see and do in Rome. Just spend a day at the Vatican and you will come back with peace in your hearts and with an appreciation for the beauty of Michelangelo’s and Da Vinci’s creations. Time is standing still here, and there is serenity and quietude here, specially at the Sistine Chapel.

Move away to the centre of the city and step into a world of many centuries ago at the Colosseum. Take an Ancient Rome City Walking Tour, and you will begin to understand why Rome was the centre of civilization many centuries ago. Everywhere you can see signs of the great Roman Empire, of a nation which once seemed to be the centre of the Universe.

Rome is also a food paradise for many people. After all, after the Chinese, the Italian cuisine is the world’s most popular cuisine. Even a roadside cafe will serve you their homemade pasta or pizza, accompanied by a simple wine, and a welcoming smile. Food is eaten leisurely, it is meant to be enjoyed in a relaxed manner and no one seems to be chasing time when they are eating.

Italy is a dazzling country, and Rome is her Queen. She has so much to offer you, ranging from museums to galleries, from ancient monuments to crowded markets, and above all a joyous, welcoming nation.

Tokyo, Japan: Frenetic pace surviving in conjunction with an ancient culture
Tokyo has more Michelin starred restaurants than in any other city in the world. This little known fact in itself should give you a sense of what this city is all about. It combines an ancient culture, which has survived the test of time with a frenetic lifestyle which seems to have stress as it’s benchmark.

Tokyo is crowded, full of bright lights and innumerable people. Everyone seems to be lost in their own world, there is an inscrutability in their faces which no Westerner has been able to fathom. They have perfected the art of making everything run perfectly and they have combined their furious pace of modernisation with a basic belief in old time values and traditions. Thus, even though it has glittering shopping areas and neon lights to dazzle your eyes, it also has the traditional Shinto Shrines and smaller lanes and homes where large families live together.

Here is a very large metropolis consisting of many wards. Most visitors are overwhelmed by the size of the city. Many tourists just love to wander around the streets randomly, looking for bargains and amazing crafts, or seeking peace and tranquillity within the confines of Shinto Shrines.

Tokyo is one of the most expensive places in the world, but if you ask around, the friendly locals will be able to guide you to cheaper eating places and with a little bit of effort you may be able to find reasonably priced hotels.

This is one of the most distinctive cities in the world – but there are a few facts which every traveller should be aware of. Most shops will not accept credit cards, hence be prepared to spend large amount in cash. ATM’s will not give you money on International cards – these can be encashed only at certain spots – such as Post Offices during the daytime and convenience stores in the evening.

Rio De Janeiro: Carnivals and Fiestas, Beaches and Nightlife

In 2016 Rio will hold the Summer Olympics and the Paralympics, becoming the first South American city to do so. In 2014 it will host some of the FIFA World Cup and many of it’s games. If these are not enough reasons to entice you to visit this spectacular city, here are some more.

Rio is not only Brazil’s second largest city, it is also it’s most beautiful city. Every traveller who visits this city comes back with memories of stunning vistas, of lovely beaches and of a people who have made laughter and joy a part of their daily lives.

Rio’s Carnival time is the best time to visit. Two weeks of partying and parades and a glimpse of brilliant floats and beautiful dances are only a small part of this festival. There is music all around, after all Rio was the birthplace of the samba, choro and bossa nova, Brazil’s three favourite streams of music. And of course to adding to all this merriment is unlimited amounts of drinks and great food.

Rio is much more than just a Carnival city. The famous Copacabana beach is part of Rio’s famous landmarks, and of course Christ The Redeemer is well-known as the symbol of Rio. You can take a tram ride up to the statue and have a bird’s eye view of this city or you can go up to the Sugar Loaf Mountain and get a 360′ glimpse of this very unique city.

The people of Rio are it’s greatest asset. They are happy and friendly and they will go out of their way to help tourists in the city. There are a few crime problems, but then no large city is free from them. The food is fabulous and no other city serves better caipirinhas’s than the ones available here at every street corner.

Sydney: Sun and sand, sports and outdoor activity

Sydney is a mirror to Australia’s multi-cultural urban society. Australia has opened it’s doors to people of many races and you can see a microcosm of this multiracial society here. People of every nationality live here and they are absorbed into the system with ease and comfort.

Sydney is one of those cities where there is a lot of emphasis on outdoor sports and activities. The beautiful beaches are always full of sunbathers, the surfing areas are renowned and there is an active colourful nightlife.

Sydney Harbour and it’s iconic Opera House are the most popular tourist spots here. A ferry ride around the harbour will give you an excellent view of this very picturesque area. There is something for everyone here – it is one of the world’s most popular honeymoon destinations, and for families with children it is a great holiday spot.

Sydney is divided into four districts and no matter what your interests are, you will be able to find what you are seeking here. The arts, music and theatre are all well represented here and so is the gay community. This is a fairly new city as compared to the ancient civilizations in other parts of the world, yet it has a unique identity of it’s own. It is fairly expensive, but if you wander around you are sure to find cheaper places to eat and live in.

Sydney has many activities which can keep you occupied for many days on end. The Taraonga Zoo is among the world’s best zoos and for a true experience you can join their ‘Roar ‘n Snore’ overnight adventure – where your morning alarm can be the roars of lions. With miles and miles of coastline, it is not surprising that ocean sports are a part of every tourist’s agenda.

Sydney is one of the world’s most cosmopolitan cities and thus every tourist is sure to feel at home here.

Jerusalem: The holiest of cities for three great religions

Jerusalem is probably one of the most unique cities in the world. It is a sacred place for three of the world’s greatest religions – Islam, Christianity and Islam. Every corner of the old city holds a spot which is revered by one of the religions and yet there are buildings all around which are modern edifices which are in sharp contrast to the ancient civilizations which were a part of this region .

Jerusalem houses churches from every denomination of Christianity, you can see nuns and priests everywhere. It is the sanctum sanctorum of the Jewish faith and their Western Wall and Temple Mount stand right next to Islam’s al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the rock.

Jerusalem has had a turbulent history and the vestiges of the violence and conflict are in evidence everywhere. Yet you cannot help feeling awed by the history of this place and by the fact that within a few square kilometres you can witness various religious focal points.

The best way to see Jerusalem is of course by walking around the Old City. Take a guide with you, or else you will miss out on the significance of many of the buildings and ruins. Do remember that this is still an active bustling city, and it is thronging with people. It is a marketplace and also a commercial activity centre.

Jerusalem is not just the Old City, it is also a very modern city in many parts of it. It is the largest city in Israel and it is it’s financial hub. There are glistening high-rises which occasionally tower over the ancient religious sites. The Jews may know it as The Holy City, the Muslims may consider it to be their third holiest city, the Christians may consider it to be home of Christ, yet for the visitor it is an amalgam of all of this and one of the world’s most sacred places.
