New York is a city that fascinates and amazes you, no matter how many times you visit her. There is always a new facet to look at, a new attraction which you missed the last time or a new play which has become the latest hit.
She has something for everyone. It does sound like a travel cliché, but it is so true. If you are an art aficionado, the Metropolitan Museum, the MOMA and the Guggenheim will be your first stops. But if plays and concerts and music are your scene, then the legendary street of Broadway will be your favourite haunt. Just walking down this amazing street invokes memories of great actors and actresses and of stupendous shows at the Radio City Music Hall.
If you are a first time visitor to New York, then do join one of the hop-on, hop-off bus tours. New York really is too large for you to traverse it on your own. Let them show you the highlights of this city and on the next day choose your points of interest and visit them individually. Or you could even take a Circle Line Ferry Tour of the Hudson and get a riverside view of the borough of Manhattan.
If you are looking for the serenity of parks, then the massive Central Park beckons you and enthrals you. If shopping is your main interest, then the massive Macy’s at Herald Square is your port. Watch out for your wallet here, you may end up spending too much money! But if you would just like to window shop, then take a walk down Fifth Avenue, and catch a glimpse of the world’s best known stores and their rarefied clientele.
New York is also home to the best restaurants and street food in America. Good food is available for all budgets and on every street. You can savour food from all over the world here, and still remain within your budget.
Do try to decide upon an itinerary before you reach New York, because there is so much to see and do, that you will waste precious time trying to make a choice!
Enjoy the Big Apple – she will beguile you.
